Tecnology & CraftsmanshipTakamine Factory Tour
Your Takamine is made up of more than 40 kinds of parts and components. It also goes through about 20 workstations before being sent to the final inspection team. A workstation is a job unit that includes several or more processes.
When you visit Takamine guitar factory, you'll find it's quite unlike a luthier's workshop. A luthier normally performs all the work by himself, or with the help of one or two assistants. Machine use is also limited and the most jobs are done manually.
Rather than strictly keeping up traditional luthiers' ways of working, Takamine positively employs modern production engineering to improve overall quality as well as productivity. A good example is our elaborate inlay works that can be done only with CAD-based CNC machining and laser cutter. By combining advanced engineering with traditional craftsmanship, Takamine successfully established the way to build very special, high-quality guitars in the volume of 400 – 2,000 units. The kind of quality and details normally can be found only in much more expensive instruments manufactured in significantly smaller volume by hand.
Enjoy your virtual visit to Takamine Guitar Factory.
