What's New at Takamine
What's New at Takamine
This year is Takamine's memorial year of the 50th anniversary and we launched our celebration model.
Limited edition - 50th Anniversary Model (T50TH)
“MICHI” - A path or a course to follow over a distance.
That is the theme that guided the conception of this special limited edition instrument. The growing vine motif is symbolic of the long and vital life of the Takamine Guitar company and is significant for our 50th Anniversary and will never be duplicated again.

As you well know the 9.0 quake just attacked to the Japan's eastern coast on Mar. 11, 2011. It’s one of the largest quake in the world. We can’t figure out how many people were dead or the total damage at this stage. Everything fell down in the quake and Tsunami…. and many victims lost everything……
According to the current news we’ve lost around 1,600 people already and we still have been missing more than 10,000 people. The 9,500 are in the one of the town where the population is 17,000. You can image how serious the damage was.
As you may know through the TV news the other serious issue is the damage of unclear plants in Fukushima prefecture. There are two damaged unclear plants. Unfortunately around 200 people were exposed to radiation. We just hoped no more people would be exposed, but the 3rd plant blew up in this morning. It’s the outside shelter, so the explosion was not the serious one. But the situation has been getting serious.
Fortunately Takamine Gakki Co., Ltd. is located in Gifu prefecture where is in the middle part of Japan (it takes an honor drive from Nagoya). Our people and facilities didn’t get any damage. The all of us and their families are safe.
When the quake attacked to us our staff (total: 5 persons) were in Tokyo. They were all safe, but they told me that they felt big and long shake even though they were in Tokyo. And one sales guy was in Sendai where was damaged seriously, but he left there around 2 hours before the quake and on the way back to our home town. He was really lucky. (I should not say so though.)
Japanese government decided to control the electric power in the east area where is Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa, Gunma, Yamanashi, etc. from the Tokyo electric company until the next month. They are trying to make a time lag shut down for each area. And Toyota, Honda and other big factories are all closed on today. We need to help for saving the life line to all damaged area and all victims.
We at Takamine Gakki Co., Ltd. would like to do something for all victims. If big artists could help us to make a charity auction with their singed Takamine guitars, it would be really appreciated. Or anything what we can do through our business connection would also be fine. We will do anything what we can do for victims. Please give us your help and cooperation.
Japan has been in the most serious situation now. But we will come back to here with getting much stronger Samurai heart and spirit. It’s not easy, but I assure Japanese can make it.
Finally I would like to offer extend my heartfelt condolences to all victims and their families.
Sincerely,
Hayami Tate
& all staff at Takamine Gakki Co., Ltd.
